We explore a brief history of animation and get familiar with the Toon Boom Harmony environment. We complete a first animation exercise, a technical drawing assignment, and feedback sessions to assess the starting point.
We learn to draw in Toon Boom Harmony, understanding the use of layers and the peg tool. We start drawing exercises for animation and warm-ups, followed by our first complete animation exercise and its corresponding assignment.
We focus on character animation, using thumbnails and scene planning. We study the principles of squash & stretch, anticipation, and staging, applying them in a practical animation assignment.
We cover direct and pose-to-pose animation methods, along with principles such as overlapping, easing, and motion fluidity.
We conclude with a comprehensive review of the animations created.
We study the principles of arcs and secondary action, along with the use of timecharts for timing control. Additionally, we explore scene design and complete a character acting exercise.
We address the principles of exaggeration and solid drawing, applying them in the creation of key poses. We also introduce breakdown planning as part of the professional animation workflow.
We work on the principle of appeal, along with techniques such as shift and trace and inbetweens. We include a review of key poses and study overshoot to achieve more expressive and controlled animations.
We explore the uses of the light table, basic rigging techniques, and workflow optimization tips in Toon Boom Harmony. We conclude with a general review and a basic rig animation.
We focus on lip sync and expression animation, along with scene design centered on facial acting.
We explore different approaches to animated acting, including principles of limited animation and strategies for conveying intention with economy of movement.
We work on full-body acting, the expressive hierarchy of movement, and the transition to smoother, more narrative tradigital animation.
We execute a complete animation applying what we’ve learned, with an emphasis on clean-up to deliver a polished and professional final piece.
We know it’s not always easy to make an educational
decision so quickly, so we’ve prepared this guide to help
you clear up your doubts in a straightforward
and clear way.
